What is the value proposition?
The results released by Medtronic seem to validate their decision to spin off MiniMed into a separate publicly traded entity. With low single digit growth in diabetes, a tough competitive environment and competitive bidding on the way diabetes and Medtronic after a long marriage are headed for what appears to be an amicable divorce. The question we should now be asking is what’s MiniMed worth? Is there value here? Will MiniMed free to date be an attractive option or just another rebuilt old unit trying to look young?
