Ok maybe this wasn’t such a good idea

Diabetic Investor is hearing from multiple sources that Asante Medical, the makers of the Snap insulin pump, has put their upcoming IPO on hold. Now for the moment we don’t know the reason for the delay or whether it’s a temporary or permanent delay. Diabetic Investor has reached out to Asante for comment but as of this writing we have not heard from the company. Obviously as we learn more we will keep everyone up to date.

Yet given it’s just so much fun to speculate let’s do just that as this is the wacky world of diabetes where anything can and usually does happen.

Now it could be there is nothing nefarious going on here and the company is just waiting for better timing. Then again it could be that someone is going to buy the company, hence no need for an IPO. A real juicy reason would be there is something wrong with the company, the Snap pump or Serge Weinberg has decided to leave Sanofi (NYSE:SNY) and run Asante; wouldn’t that be sweet.

Listen the insulin pump business is pretty dull these days and nothing is better than a little speculation based on no facts whatsoever. This situation takes Diabetic Investor back to days long gone when everyone in this wacky world couldn’t resist spreading gossip about who was buying whom, who was about to go public or who was sleeping with whom… opps forgot that Diabetic Investor is a family publication so let’s forget about the last remark no matter how intriguing it may be.

So stay tuned boys and girls and let the rumors fly, it’s pretty damn cold here in Chicago so why not have a little fun.
